APCs and Revenue Sources

- update at: 28 Jul 2025

I. Article Processing Charges (APCs)

Journal of Economic Analysis is an open‑access journal. All accepted papers are subject to a standard APC of USD 1,200 per article. For manuscripts accepted up to 31 December 2026, this fee is fully covered by ANSER Press; authors pay nothing. Beginning 1 January 2027, the APC will be invoiced to the corresponding author unless a formal waiver or discount has been granted.

No submission fees are charged at any stage, and editorial decisions remain completely independent of payment. APC information, waiver criteria for authors from low‑ and lower‑middle‑income economies, and any future adjustments will be published transparently on the journal website at least six months before taking effect.

II. Permissible revenue sources

At present, the journal is funded solely by ANSER Press. From 2027 onward, APCs will become the journal’s only revenue stream. No advertising, reprint sales, or institutional sponsorships influence editorial processes.

III. Use of APC income

All APC revenue will be ring‑fenced to cover:

  1. Editorial management – salaries and training for editors, editorial assistants, and ethics officers;

  2. Peer‑review administration – secure double‑blind workflows, reviewer recognition, conflict‑of‑interest checks;

  3. Production services – professional copy‑editing, typesetting, figure preparation, XML conversion, DOI assignment, and metadata delivery to Crossref, DOAJ, CNKI, Scopus, and Web of Science;

  4. Open‑access hosting & long‑term preservation – secure servers, CLOCKSS/Portico archiving, and perpetual free access;

  5. Quality assurance & academic recognition – plagiarism screening, research‑integrity audits, and modest honoraria for outstanding editorial or reviewer contributions.

IV. Ethics & transparency

The journal adheres to the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing (COPE‑DOAJ‑WAME‑OASPA), as well as the policies of Web of Science Core Collection and Scopus . There are no hidden charges (e.g., page or color fees). Financial and editorial independence is strictly maintained.
